Former longtime Washburn resident to celebrate 103rd birthday

Theresa Wilcox, long-term Washburn resident, will celebrate her 103rd birthday at High View Manor in Madawaska on May 25.

Wilcox, originally from Bridgeport, Connecticut, lived in Washburn for decades before moving to High View. She and her late husband traveled to Washburn to visit his family, and wound up settling down and raising their kids there.

Wilcox will celebrate her birthday with family — her children Vinal, Frances and Terri — and friends on Wednesday.

“She was never one for shindigs for herself,” Vinal Wilcox said. “She would do it for others.”

Vinal Wilcox said his mother has always been generous and kind — and a great chef to top it off.

“When we were kids at home, we’d come home for lunch and mom would have something nice and hot on the stove,” he said. “She makes the best lasagnas you’ll ever eat.”

At High View, Theresa Wilcox enjoys watching soap operas with staff and fellow residents, as well as sharing pictures of her family.
