PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle High School’s boys and girls varsity basketball staffs are offering their 27th annual Wildcat Basketball Camp for local children.
The camp is open to any SAD 1 boys or girls student currently in grades 2-7 and will run from June 14-18 at PIHS. Those in grades 2-4 will meet from 5-7 p.m., while those in grades 5-7 meet from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $65/student, $120 for two or $165 for three or more from one household.
The camp is open to experienced players as well as to those with no basketball experience.
The clinic directors will be girls Varsity Coach Jeff Hudson and boys Varsity Coach Terry Cummings. The staff will include coaches from Presque Isle High School, along with present and former players from the varsity teams.
Fundamentals in all phases of basketball will be stressed. There will be basketball drills, individual games, as well as regular basketball games. There will also be an emphasis on sportsmanship and having fun as athletes learn the game of basketball.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all participants will be expected to wear masks. There will be a limited number of people allowed in the gym, so parents are asked to drop off their children and pick them up in the gym parking lot. The only people allowed in the gym will be coaches, camp counselors and participants.
Interested participants may pre-register at the PIHS Athletic Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays or they may register on the first night of the camp June 14, up to 30 minutes before the camp begins in the athletic office entryway.
Students may not participate without a signed permission form, which also serves as proof of insurance. For more information or questions, please call the PIHS Athletic office at 207-764-6507.
