Easton announces honor parts for Class of 2021

EASTON, Maine — Laura Hunter, principal of Easton Junior Senior High School, has announced the honor parts for the graduation ceremonies of the Class of 2021.  

The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. 

Valedictorian

Kaitlyn Hurley is the granddaughter of Stephen and Faith Cochran.  

She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years and is currently the NHS vice president.  Kaitlyn has maintained honor roll status throughout the entirety of her high school career.  She has been a member of the Math Team and Upward Bound all four years of high school and was named Student of the Month during her sophomore year and student of the quarter during her senior year at PIRCTC.  

Hurley also participated in the one-act play, Junior Exhibition, Spanish Club, band, cheering, varsity soccer, and helped manage basketball and soccer.  She was her class secretary during her freshman year and was the yearbook editor during her junior and senior years.  She was the 2020 recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa award.  

Hurley plans to attend Colby College where she will study psychology. 

Salutatorian

Mitchell Flewelling

Mitchell Flewelling is the son of Loren and Margaret Flewelling.  

He was a member of the varsity soccer, basketball and volleyball teams throughout high school.  He also participated in the one-act play and Math Team. During his freshman year he was a member of the Spanish Club and during his freshman and sophomore year he was a member of the Easton High School Band. He participated in Student Council and was the Student Council treasurer during his junior year.  

Flewelling also is a member of the National Honor Society and currently is the NHS treasurer.  He is currently the class of 2021 secretary and has maintained honor roll status throughout his high school career.  He was also named the 2021 Maine Principals’ Association Award winner for Easton High School. 

Flewelling plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College to study computer technology.

First Honor Essayist

Rachel Wipperman

Rachel Wipperman is the daughter of Steve and Beth Wipperman.  

She participated in the one-act play, band, and Spanish Club.  She was a member of the volleyball team and also managed the varsity boys soccer and basketball teams.  

Wipperman was a member of the Easton High School Math Team and also a member of the National Honor Society.  

In the fall Wipperman plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College.

Second Honor Essayist

Savannah Guess

Savannah Guess is the daughter of Ryan and Nikki Guess.  

During her freshman and sophomore years, she was the vice president of her class, participated in Battle of the Books, and a member of the Spanish Club.  During her sophomore year she was the treasurer of the Spanish Club.  She maintained honor roll status throughout the entirety of her high school career.  Savannah was also a participant in athletics.  She played varsity soccer and volleyball and was a captain on both teams.  Savannah also managed the varsity basketball team during grades 10-12.  

Guess participated in Junior Exhibition, Math Team, National Honor Society as well as the one-act play.  During her senior year she was the NHS secretary.  She also received recognition for Aroostook All Cast Award during her sophomore and junior years.  She was named Student of the Month of Easton High School during her senior year.  

In the fall Guess plans to attend Messiah University to study secondary education.
