PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Braden Theater is officially reopening on Friday, June 4, after more than a year of being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theater’s marquee once again lists movies now playing.
The Braden will be open Wednesday through Sunday with 7 p.m. shows scheduled for all five days as well as 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays and Sundays, according to its Facebook page.
For the first week, the theater will screen “Godzilla vs. Kong,” the animated feature “Spirit Untamed” and the thriller “Nobody.” The theater will open at 1 p.m. before each weekend matinee and at 6 p.m. prior to the evening shows.
The theater’s Facebook post did not specify whether any mask or social distancing restrictions would be in place. Efforts to reach Braden owner Chris Dow were unsuccessful.
The Braden closed in March 2020 after Maine went into lockdown at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and remained closed as other theaters across the country slowly welcomed back moviegoers. Prior to reopening, the Braden had hosted $5 popcorn sales during select weekends.
