Houlton area athletes compete in District Pine Tree Track and Field event

CARIBOU, Maine — The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department Track and Field athletes competed in the District Pine Tree State meet in Caribou on June 23.

After weeks of dedicated practices, all athletes competed to the best of their abilities with 17 participants qualifying to go on to the State Meet on July 19 in Brewer.

Local results of the Caribou District Meet are as follows: 

For the 7-8-year-old boys: Nicholas Adams, eighth place 100-meter and ninth place softball throw; Collin Lilley, 11th place 50-meter, 11th place 200-meter and 15th place softball throw; Jacob Lilley, ninth place 50-meter, 14th place standing long jump; Oliver Philips, 13th place 100-meter and 12th place 200-meter; Thomas Gilbert, sixth place 50-meter and 14th place softball throw; Noah Sloat, second place 50-meter and seventh place standing long jump; Jonathan Quint, third place 100-meter, second place 200-meter and third place standing long jump.

For the 7-8-year-old girls: Lena Bennett, 13th place 100-meter, ninth place 200-meter and eighth place standing long jump; Mattie Goodwin, 11th place 100-meter, sixth place 200-meter and seventh place standing long jump.

For the 9-10-year-old boys: Lucas McPhee, second place 100-meter and third place softball throw; Brian Phillips, eighth place 200-meter and third 4×100-relay; Iver Hall, ninth place 200-meter and third place 4×100-relay; Beckett Koehler, 10th place 50-meter, 10th place 100-meter and second place 4×100-relay; Kevin Rossignol, third place 4×100-relay and 11th place softball throw; Bentley Bates, sixth place 50-meter, fourth place softball throw and second place 4×100-relay; Beckham Bates, fourth place 200-meter and second place 4×100-relay; Zephaniah Caron, eighth place 400-meter and third place 4×100-relay; Jameson Weston, 14th place 100-meter and 16th place standing long jump; Kip Deveau, eighth place 50-meter and second place 4×100-relay; Gabriel Sloat, second place 50-meter, fifth place standing long jump and second place softball throw. 

For the 9-10-year-old girls: Martha Caron; seventh place 50-meter, third place 100-meter and third place standing long jump.

For the 11-12-year-old boys: Damyan White, 10th place 100-meter, 14th place 200-meter and ninth place softball throw.

For the 11-12-year-old girls: Sophie Weston, third place 100-meter, third place 200-meter and first place standing long jump; Selena Soule, fourth place 100-meter, sixth place 200-meter and fourth place standing long jump; Alison Fagnant, ninth place 100-meter, second place 400-meter and 13th place standing long jump.

For the 13-14-year-old boys: William Baillargeon, second place 1,600-meter, first place 400-meter and fifth place standing long jump. 

The following athletes were not able to attend the meet: Raven DeVoe, Boston Harriman, Ethan Owen, and Elijah Pritchard. The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department congratulates all of the athletes on their hard work and is looking forward to another season next year.
