PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center is featuring the work of fiber artist Melanie Reese in September.

The opening reception of her show will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk.

Reese, a longtime resident of Maine and Vermont, has recently relocated to Presque Isle where she creates fiber arts and quilts, both traditional and pictorial.

She said she has found Presque Isle to be a welcoming and creative artistic community and looks forward to showing her work, connecting with other artists, and sharing her love of fabric work.

The upcoming September show will be her second since the state’s reopening.

“Melanie’s work with fabric is unlike any I’ve seen,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s board chair.  “Her ability to manipulate materials to recreate people, animals, and everyday objects with structure and depth is amazing to experience.  Her show is not one to be missed.”

The September show will feature live entertainment by Janice Santos.  Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
