FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Carter Pelletier poured in 25 points to lead the Wisdom Pioneers to a come-from-behind 53-41 victory over Fort Fairfield in high school basketball action Wednesday night, and the Wisdom girls started fast and never looked back in rolling to a 57-41 win over the Tigers.

In the boys game, Fort Fairfield led 24-15 at halftime but Wisdom came out strong and outscored the Tigers 23-8 in the third quarter behind a strong defensive effort. The Pioneers kept rolling in the fourth quarter, outscoring Fort Fairfield 15-9 to cement the win.
In addition to Pelletier’s scoring, Dominic Lendreau had 9 points for Wisdom. Camden Pelletier and Kaden Daigle both added 7 points each, and Logan Lagasse chipped in 4.
“Coach Mclaughlin was really undermanned, and I know he was missing a bunch of players, but they did a really good job with their defense,” Wisdom coach Dominic Rossignol said. “He threw us looks that we didn’t quite see the first time around, and really took us a half to figure out. We were fortunate enough to be able to make those adjustments, and start getting looks and applying more pressure. I’m really proud of our guys because even though they didn’t play their greatest half, they were able to collect themselves and turn it around.”
For Fort Fairfield, Chase Coiley and Micah Daigle led the team with 13 points each, followed by Josh Gill and Brett Senal, who both scored 6 points. Silas Libby chipped in 4 points.
Wisdom improved to 7-3 on the season with the win, while Fort Fairfield fell to 7-4.

In the girls game, Wisdom’s Lily Roy scored 21 points to lead the Pioneers, who stormed to a 16-0 lead before Fort Fairfield scored.
The Tigers outscored Wisdom 13-8 in the second quarter to pull within 32-20 at halftime, but couldn’t get any closer the rest of the way.
For Wisdom, which improved its record to 8-1, Abbie Lerman finished with 15 points. Olivia Ouellette and Alexis Silva both added 7 points.
“I thought we did very well and I thought we came out ready to play,” Wisdom coach Scott Pelletier said. “I knew as the game progressed, it looked like we were a bit tired. This was our third away game in a row, after just playing East Grand yesterday, but the girls played hard.”
For Fort Fairfield, Kassidy Gorneault led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Phoebe Solomon with 8 points, and Eva Callioris with 4 points. The Tigers fell to 5-5 on the season.
“Tough competition with Wisdom, they are a good team,” Fort Fairfield coach Larry Gardner said. “Lilly Roy played extremely well. It’s hard to get out of a 16-nothing start, but we did, and ended up 16 points shy at the end, but our kids worked hard and played hard, and we will see them again in a few more days.”
