Southern Aroostook Development Corporation hires new executive director

HOULTON, Maine — The Southern Aroostook Development Corporation has announced the appointment of Jared Tapley as its new executive director starting May 1. 

Tapley, a Houlton native, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management from the University of Maine at Orono. He has held several positions in the service, retail, and economic development sectors, most recently as a Small Business Development Center business advisor at the Northern Maine Development Commission, serving the business community in southern Aroostook and Washington Counties. 

Tapley was instrumental in assisting area small businesses in obtaining millions of dollars in federal and state pandemic grant funds, as well as providing businesses with start-up counseling. He is currently serving overseas as a cyber transport technician in the Maine Air National Guard, where he has been enlisted for more than 11 years.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the business community in southern Aroostook,” Tapley said.

Southern Aroostook Development Corporation (SADC) is an economic enhancement organization, founded in 1998, to develop and expand the economic base of Southern Aroostook County.   Business and community leaders from throughout the area working together to help coordinate, promote, and guide new business creation.
