PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Dane Driscoll is Presque Isle Tech Center’s Student of the Year. Driscoll has been a student in the farm mechanics program for two years. He has worked at Driscoll Diesel, his father’s shop, since he was old enough to walk. He has also been employed at Valley Farms and BD Grass and Son’s.
With this experience, great determination, a fantastic work ethic and a little help from friends and family, Driscoll planted, tended, harvested, and sold a crop of potatoes. He earned his Class A commercial driver’s license so he could transport the crop to McCain’s processing plant. Driscoll loves trucks and equipment, and owns a bucket loader and tractor with a bush hog. He hauls gravel and mows to earn extra money.
He has been active in the FFA program at school since the seventh grade. He has earned his Supervised Agriculture Experience Proficiency award for four consecutive years as well as several state honors and won a gold medal in the tractor driving competition. When he isn’t working or in school, he volunteers his time to run the groomer for Ashland’s snowmobile trails.
Presque Isle Tech Center is proud of Driscoll and all of his accomplishments.
