What a hot few days we just had. Looks like some much needed rain is coming, that will only make the course look greener and play even better.
On Sunday we held a Golf For Life Scramble, with another great turnout! First place was Denny Bye, Cliff Urquhart, Ryan Scott. Second Place was Jaron Gentle, Thadon Gentle, Keegan Gentle, Trapper Gentle.
This coming weekend is The County Open Charity Golf Tournament, with an 18-hole single person tournament on Saturday in Houlton and an 18-hole scramble in VaJoWa on Sunday. Visit countyopen.com for more information, or call the clubhouse to sign up for Saturday. The following weekend August 20-21 is our Club Championship, the signup sheet is in the clubhouse.
In our quest to recognize all of the many volunteers at Houlton Community Golf Course our list brings us to the board of directors. So many of our board members donate time, money and often both we’d like to recognize all of their hard work. Jerry York (director), Ben Lynds (vice president), Randy Lincoln (director), Janice Kelley (treasurer), Barb Moakler (secretary), Jamie York (president), Daniel Peabody (director), and Liz Anderson (director).
We could write a page about all that each of these people have done for the golf course, but in the interest of brevity we’ll suffice for a gracious thank you to our board.
