Derby reels in more registrants — Anglers took to the icy lakes of the St. John Valley to try their luck in the eighth annual Long Lake Ice Fishing Derby, which took place Jan. 26 and 27 in 2013. The weekend-long event brought in 637 registrations, which was “another record-breaking number of registrations,” according to derby president Paul Bernier. This year’s number of registrations was 36 registrants more than last year’s number of 601. “Every year the numbers keep going up and up, it’s incredible,” said Bernier.
