PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center is featuring two local young artists during March, Youth Art Month.

Art pieces by Mackenzie Vigue (grade 6) and Liam Morrison (grade 2) will be on display at Wintergreen throughout the month of March.

The opening reception will be held Friday, March 3 from 6-8 p.m. during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk.

Mackenzie is in the sixth grade at Presque Isle Middle School. Her interest in art created a love for Wintergreen and its classes when she began attending open studio art times as a toddler.

Mackenzie became a regular at Wintergreen’s after school and summer arts programs. She enjoys many artistic mediums, most recently she has been working on pencil drawing, shading and perspective techniques.

Currently enrolled in the Gifted and Talented Art Program at PIMS, Mackenzie aspires to become an illustrator or animator. Mackenzie lives in Mapleton with her mom Holly, dad Joe, brother Carter, and dog Olive.

Liam is seven and a half years old. He is a second-grader at Pine Street Elementary School.

Liam loves to play hockey. When not on the ice, he loves to draw superheroes and transformers.

Liam lives in Presque Isle with his mom Brittany, dad Brian, and sister Cora.

Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s event coordinator, said, “I’m excited to hang this show and open the doors to the public. These are two incredibly talented artists who are taking a big step by sharing their art.”

Violette hopes Mackenzie’s and Liam’s art inspires other young artists to explore their talents and share their artwork with the world.
