PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The members of the Presque Isle Rotary Club are hard at work preparing for the many events and milestones taking place in April. The Club will be celebrating 100 years of service on April 25, as well as the culmination of the 75th annual Rotary Auction event. Be sure to mark your calendars for the following dates.
The month kicks off with the online mini auction going live on www.greggauctions.com. There are great items like a heat pump, NMCC courses, fire pit, and themed baskets, donated by local businesses and organizations. The auction will run until April 22. Raffle tickets for the Great Big Basket Drawing remain on sale until April 15. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by Rotarians or at the ticket booth located at Graves Shop N’ Save. Eight winners will be selected and will each walk away with over $1,000 in prizes. Individuals need not be present to win.
On April 24, the City of Presque Isle will be hosting an event declaring April 24-30th, 2023 “Presque Isle Rotary Club Week”. In honor of the clubs 100th Anniversary, an event will be held at Presque Isle City Hall from 12-1 p.m. This event will feature proclamation reading and a flag raising, as well as presentations from federal, state, municipal and Rotary leadership in attendance. Additionally, this will be the official community unveiling of the Presque Isle Rotary Amphitheater campaign. All community members are invited to attend at no cost.
The club will be wrapping up their birthday month with their 100th Anniversary Celebration on April 25 at Legacy Ranch Event Center. The evening will highlight milestones over the last century, and will conclude with the announcement of the raffle basket drawings and auction winners. The event will also feature check presentations to the 2023 Great Big Give Back Proceed Recipients: Easton Prestile Community Park, Mapleton Fire Department, PI Youth Hockey, and PI Rotary Scholarship. Finally, the club will honor the newly named 2023 Service Above Self Award winners. In February, the PIRC issued a call to the community for nominations to recognize individuals that have gone above and beyond for our community in four separate categories and is excited to announce those selected for these Service Above Self recognitions are as follows: Pam Lilley, Individual; Derek Cruz, Youth; the Presque Isle Historical Society, Organization; and Laura Roope, Teach the Future Award.
The social begins at 4:30 p.m. with dinner and program to follow at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 a person are available for purchase online. RSVPs are required in advance to attend.
