Blaine holds annual town meeting with passage of 27 warrants

MARS HILL, Maine — The Blaine Select Board met on Tuesday, March 27, to pass warrants and announce town election results.

The annual town meeting was held at Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill. Josh Tweedie served as moderator, sworn in by Blaine Town Manager Janet Bradbury.

 The total municipal town budget of $1,319,780 was passed. 

Steve Robinson was elected to a three-year term on the SAD 42 school board, and Darcy Haines was elected to the board for a one-year term.  

Mike Tweedie and Spencer Garrison were elected to three-year terms on the select board.

Article 18 was passed for $159,410 in services. The town will pay $35,217 to the Mars Hill Fire Department for fire protection, $25,000 for hydrant rental from the Mars Hill Utility District, $58,696 for ambulance services, $29,497 for Pine Tree Waste, $7,200 for street lights, $2,600 for septic site service and $700 to Robert Collins for emergency management service. 

Article 27 was amended and passed to authorize the Select Board to borrow up to $800,000 for paving and repair on Robinson Road that heads toward East Blaine Road.
