Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash recently welcomed the Easton Chapter of Future Farmers of America to the Senate Chamber as part of National Agriculture Day.
The students from Aroostook County were there to advocate for Maine FFA chapters and the importance of agricultural trades in Maine. “It’s really great to see young people who are committed to the agricultural trades, which are such a key part of Aroostook County and Maine’s heritage,” said Jackson. “But agriculture is also a key part of Maine’s future, too. These smart and dedicated students confirm that the future looks bright. I’m grateful to the advisors of this group, especially Kevin Marquis, for their dedication to teaching important skills and opportunities to students from Aroostook County. ” Maine FFA has 11 chapters at middle and high schools around the state. Each chapter provides middle level or secondary education related to agriculture and natural resources. Each chapter has a designated advisor and provides leadership, scholarship, and career development and more to students.
