FORT KENT, Maine — Hard work and dedication paid off for some local Cub Scouts who moved up in the ranks this weekend.

Cub Scout Pack 189 celebrated a Blue and Gold Ceremony Saturday to recognize the achievements of dozens of youngsters with their eyes on community service and self-betterment.

Cubs who earned the rank of Lion were: Giuseppe Tomasetti, Isaiah Mulcahy, Liim Kirk, Riley Dubois and Simon Theriault.

Cubs who earned the rank of Tiger were: Grayson Soucie, John Andrew MacVane, Joseph Nadeau, Justin Rubert-Nason, Liam Chouinard and Xander Berube.

Cubs who earned the rank of Wolf were: Korbin Kirk, Oliver Theriault and Trenton Albert.

Cubs who earned the rank of Bear were: Ayden Plourde, Calix Jandreau, Colin Rubert-Nason, Elijah Grange and Mitchell Berube.

A Cub who earned the rank of Webelos was Adrien Gagnon.

The achievements were the results of year-long skill development efforts put in by the scouts, according to Cubmaster Bettina Grange.

“They’ve learned about the outdoors, citizenship, team work, physical fitness, their duties to God and their families, and many other topics. At the Blue and Gold Ceremony we were able to recognize all their efforts by awarding them the ranks they’ve been working toward. They’re excited to move up a level and begin learning even more,” Grange said.
