GHCA names honor parts for class of 2023

Loreen Wiley, interim head of school for Greater Houlton Christian Academy, recently announced the honor parts for the graduating class of 2023.

Ryan Mitchell, valedictorian, is the son of Dean and Erin Mitchell of Houlton. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned numerous academic awards and Presidential Education Awards.

He has also received recognition by the Association of Christian Schools International as a Distinguished Christian High School Student in Academics. He is the school’s 2023 Maine Principal’s Award recipient.

Mitchell enjoys volleyball and has participated in two years of intramural volleyball. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys drawing and gaming.

He will attend Cedarville University in Ohio, where he will pursue a doctor of pharmacy degree.

Samuel Duff, son of Joel and Katie Duff of Hodgdon, has been named salutatorian of the class of 2023. He has received numerous awards, including Presidential Awards, and was chosen for the Association of Christian Schools International Distinguished Christian High School Student Award for Athletics.

Athletically, he has participated in soccer, volleyball, track, lacrosse and basketball.

Duff is active in his home church, East Hodgdon Bible Church. He has also worked at Living Waters and is part of the Hodgdon Fire Department. In his free time he enjoys skiing, mountain biking and time spent with family.

Samuel is employed at Houlton Farms Dairy and Duff Farms. He will attend Northern Maine Community College for certification as an advanced emergency medical technician and paramedic.
