MADAWASKA, Maine — NorState Federal Credit Union has announced it will award eight $1,000 scholarships to local students.
As part of the application process, high school applicants had to attend an Aroostook or Northern Penobscot County school, be accepted and plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university and be an active NorState FCU member.
“Every year, NorState FCU is overjoyed to be able to offer these scholarships to students in our local area to help further their education,” said Amy Michaud, NorState vice president, support services/CUCE. “Our program started small many years ago, but now is offering eight scholarships. College expenses, including tuition, books, etc. are so costly, we are happy to offer these scholarships to assist these students.”
The 2023 scholarship winners are Darby Clark, Ashland High School; Dominick Gendreau, Wisdom High School; Elyssa Violette, Van Buren High School; Hailey Blanchette and Hannah Blanchette, Madawaska High School; Marissa Dow, Hodgdon High School; Rossalyn Buck, Presque Isle High School; and Veronica L’Italien, Fort Kent Community High School.
