LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone’s Select Board will vote on the town’s 2023 mill rate on Wednesday, Oct. 18, instead of Oct. 11 as originally planned.
Interim Town Manager Alan Mulherin said Wednesday that the board postponed their vote after a meeting with Green 4 Maine officials was postponed to Friday, Oct. 13.
Prior to Green 4 Maine’s purchase of 450 acres on the former Loring Air Force Base, Limestone could not receive tax revenue from any Loring buildings. Loring Development Authority had previously owned the entire 3,800-acre Loring Commerce Center as a “public municipal corporation” separate from the town, according to state law.
Brandon Saucier, the town’s tax assessor, recently assessed 58 buildings on Green 4 Maine’s property. The Select Board, Mulherin and Saucier will meet with Green 4 Maine officials to review the assessments, Mulherin said.
The Select Board will vote on the mill rate during their regular meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 at the town office at 93 Main St.
