On Saturday, December 9, Santa will arrive to help the Mapleton Daze “Elves” will host their Annual Holiday Shopping Event for the area kids. Santa is an old friend of the Mapleton Elves as he helped them over the years when he was not visiting kids at the Aroostook Centre Mall. Santa reminds parents or grandparents of the Mapleton Daze Elves instruction. Please bring your kids to the Mapleton Elementary School from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., where the kids can do some holiday shopping for their parents and/or grandparents!

The Elves will have items on display for the kids to choose from that range from 50 cents to under $5. The Mapleton Daze Elves will be on hand to help the little ones shop and select presents for the family. Once purchases have been made, the challenge of getting the presents wrapped will be handled with the Elves helping the kids wrap their purchases at a special Kids & Elves wrapping station. All wrapping will be available free of charge.

Kids will be taking turns selecting presents. While kids wait for their turn to shop, the Elves’ fun will begin with several fun and free activities. These activities include painting and coloring pictures, frosting cookies to take with them or maybe writing a letter to Santa.

While shopping for presents for parents and other family members, youngsters will be able to visit with Santa and tell him directly their Christmas. Children of all ages can meet Santa as there is no child too young or too old to meet him and have a photo taken.

Speaking of Santa, each child will each have a special opportunity to chat with Santa and be able to tell him directly what they would like for Christmas. Also photos of the kids can be taken with Santa.

The Mapleton Daze Elves and Santa are asking for the community to help our local school children. They can do this by bringing school supplies to donate to the Mapleton Elementary School. A box will be set up in the entryway to accept any school supply donations that folks can spare. The Elves are looking forward to seeing lots of kids and their families at this very fun event. Help spread the word by telling your family and friends. The Elves welcome anyone who would like to help them by being an “Elf” for the day — they need lots of hands, please either personal message Lynnelle Foster or Laurie Boucher through the Mapleton Daze Facebook page. Just as a reminder to high school students this is a terrific fun way to get some of your volunteer hours for graduation.
