CARIBOU, Maine – A business owner has been sentenced to seven months in Aroostook County Jail with all but 14 days suspended after being found guilty of unlawful sexual touching and domestic violence assault in October.

Steve A. Plummer, 53, of Fort Fairfield received the sentencing Nov. 28 at Caribou Superior Court. He was convicted of unlawful sexual touching and domestic violence assault during a bench trial in Caribou Oct. 5 and 6.

Police arrested Plummer, who owns Aroostook County Fitness in Presque Isle, in 2022. A Fort Fairfield student claimed that Plummer touched them inappropriately while making sexual comments, according to court records.

Justice Stephen Nelson sentenced Plummer to seven months in county jail for unlawful sexual touching and 14 days for the charge of domestic violence assault, to be served concurrently. Nelson ordered that all but 14 days of the charge for unlawful sexual touching be suspended and that Plummer serve one year of probation.

Plummer is listed on the Maine Sex Offender Registry. He must also pay a $50 fine to the court and perform 30 hours of community service at a nonprofit or government entity within the next 12 months.
