Since 2014, NorState Federal Credit Union has donated the user fees it has collected from the use of their coin sorters to local Aroostook County charities. NorState FCU has three coin sorter machines located in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and Madawaska. Thanks to NorState FCU members and non-members, a total of $6,663.25 was collected during 2023 and will be donated to the Aroostook Veterans Alliance.
“Aroostook Veterans Alliance is honored to be the recipient of such a sizable contribution. NorState Federal Credit Union’s generous donation allows AVA to continue serving local Veterans and their families as well as supporting our Homeless Veteran Relocation Program which provides necessary items to make a house a home,” stated Jim Gehring, AVA chief service officer.
2024 is the 10th anniversary of NorState FCU acquiring its first coin sorter. In mid-2014, the sole coin sorter was located in Madawaska and the charity chosen at that time was the American Red Cross. NorState FCU is pleased to announce that in celebration of the 10th anniversary, the recipient of their 2024 coin sorter fundraising efforts will once again be the American Red Cross. Funds collected will aid Disaster Relief in Aroostook County.
“We are thrilled to partner with NorState Federal Credit Union in 2024 and the generosity of their employees, members, and communities through the donation of their coin sorter fees. This critical financial support will help ensure that the American Red Cross is always ready and able to respond to disasters,” says Caroline King, executive director, American Red Cross Northern & Eastern Maine.
