LP Houlton plant donates building materials to school

The LP Houlton facility recently donated more than $40,000 of its locally manufactured trim and siding to be used for school renovations at Houlton Middle/High School.

More than 23,000 square feet (about four times the area of a basketball court) of exterior trim and siding went toward the project.

Through the years, the LP Foundation and LP Houlton have built a strong relationship with RSU 29, through community grant donations and the school’s trades program, company officials said.

When looking for a sustainable product that could be tied back to the Houlton community, the district immediately knew the manufacturer was needed to complete the job.

“The partnership with LP was a fantastic opportunity to upgrade our facilities,” said RSU 29 Superintendent Joe Fagnant. “Thank you to Ryan Bushey and LP for the donation of siding to upgrade Houlton Middle/High School.”

School officials knew they needed to replace thousands of square feet of siding and the best way to do the project was by working with the local company, Fagnant said.

With many LP team members and team members’ children having graduated and attending the school, the donation allows students to see a product that is made right in their hometown.

“LP’s donation of quality, locally made siding transformed the look of our building  forever. Having LP working with local contractors was a positive experience for our community and it is fantastic to work with a company with direct connections to our students,” Fagnant said.
