Wintergreen to feature fiddlehead-inspired art in May

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen is featuring fiddlehead-inspired art from artists across Aroostook County in May. The opening reception of a Fiddlehead-Inspired Art Showcase will be held Friday, May 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk.

“Spring is here, and a favorite local delicacy is sprouting,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s events director. “Artists  have taken inspiration from these edible ferns and are creating original works.”

Art pieces will include paintings, ceramics, pyrography, linocut and fiber art, among other art forms.

“We had such a turnout for the eclipse-inspired art in April, the idea of fiddlehead-inspired art just came naturally for  May,” added Gretchen. “We had 11 artists in April and a wide variety of interpretations, so we are truly excited to see  what local artists create for fiddlehead-inspired art in May.”

The opening reception is free and open to the public.
