Fort Kent One Tomato Distribution, Master Gardeners Plant Swap, UMFK Sustainability Club Apple Tree Sale/Giveaway

FORT KENT, Maine —  Join us on Friday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to noon and Saturday, June 1 from 12-1 p.m. at the University of Maine Fort Kent Greenhouse (Armory Road across from the high school), rain or shine, for the following three events:

The One Tomato Project: This will be our fourth year distributing free cherry tomato seedlings (one seedling per person) and tips for growing them. The idea is to grow some vegetables, and maybe one tomato plant will lead to other gardening activities in the future!

Plant Swap: The Aroostook County Master Gardeners will hold the Annual Plant Swap. Bring plants – perennials, annuals, fruits, vegetables, herbs, houseplants, seeds, tree and shrub seedlings, etc.  Some native plants will be available. Plants on the invasive plant list will  not be accepted.

To prevent the spread of weed seeds, insects and diseases, please bring plants potted in clean potting soil.

This is an opportunity to meet other gardeners and diversify your home landscape… for free!

New this year, UMFK will have free apple trees available. Over 100 available, two per household. Donations accepted, with proceeds to benefit the UMFK Garden and Greenhouse fund to purchase supplies.

For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, please contact Lisa Fishman at 207-834-3905 or lisa.fishman@maine.edu.
