HOULTON, Maine – The Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Southern Aroostook Development Corporation and the Gateway Ambassadors, is delighted to announce a special meet and greet event to welcome Houlton’s newly appointed Town Manager Jeremy Smith. This event will provide a unique opportunity for community members to connect with the new town manager and the dedicated individuals behind these key community organizations.
The meet and greet will take place on Thursday, June 20 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the County Co-Op and Farm Store located at 53 Main St. in Houlton.
Smith joins Houlton as the town manager after an extensive seven-month search process that attracted over 50 applicants. With a robust background in economic and community development, Smith is poised to bring valuable experience and fresh perspectives to his new role. Having spent approximately a month on the job, Smith has expressed a strong desire to engage with more of the community’s residents and stakeholders.
Jane Torres, director of the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, “Having hosted many Meet and Greets, it is a pleasure to bring the community together to support and share ideas.”
This event is also proudly co-hosted by the Southern Aroostook Development Corporation and the Gateway Ambassadors. The Gateway Ambassadors Program, chaired by Cecilia Rhoda, is a new initiative born from a collaboration between the Chamber, SADC, and the Town of Houlton. It aims to celebrate and promote the Greater Houlton area by fostering a group of energetic community members dedicated to positive community engagement. Originally conceived to help newcomers connect with local resources and information, the program has evolved into a dynamic force for community interaction and support.
Attendees will have the chance to meet many of the Gateway Ambassadors, who will be present to share their insights and passion for the community.
