PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $7,273 grant from the Maine Community Foundation  for general support to provide quality, affordable arts programming in Aroostook County.

This grant is made in part from the Aroostook County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation at the recommendation of the Aroostook County Committee Advisors.

“We are extremely grateful for everyone at the Maine Community Foundation,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director. “Their continued support allows us to empower local youth, adults, and families to connect and express themselves through the arts and creative process.”

Wintergreen is an organization based on the idea that creativity, advocacy, and community can produce great things.

In 2023 Wintergreen served over 3,775 family members through its creative preschool, after school and summer arts  programs, signature holiday events and a wide variety of workshops. Wintergreen supports local artists through monthly gallery exhibitions and the Aroostook Creative Network, a unique partnership with the Maine Arts Commission.

General support funding from the Maine Community Foundation allows Wintergreen to meet its goal of intentionally serving economically challenged families through a scholarship program for its after school and summer arts programs.

“When it comes to support, funding is only one part of the equation,” Hutchins added. “Maine Community Foundation  listens and understands what it takes to build strong communities. They do great things for the people of Maine.”
