PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Presque Isle Historical Society has frightfully fun and interesting events planned for the month of October.

The Society’s annual Haunted Lantern Tours will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12 with walking tours at 6 and 7 p.m. and trolley tours at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

These “slightly scary, kinda’ creepy true tales of downtown Presque Isle” cover 13 sites and/or individuals that played an interesting role in downtown Presque Isle’s history with an historical interpreter at each site. The tours start and end at the Historic Fire Station at 11 Church St.

The walking tours are $5 per person, no reservations needed. For the trolley tours, since seats are limited, reservations are required. Tickets, which may be purchased at the outdoor “mini-Molly” ticket booth at the event, for the trolley tours are $7.50 per person. To make reservations, email pihistoricalsociety@hotmail.com with date/time of tour you are interested in, number in your group, your name and contact information.

America’s 26 th President Teddy Roosevelt, a larger than life figure who visited Aroostook County in the 1870s, would celebrate his 166 h birthday on Sunday, October 27. Join Presque Isle Historical Society for a free event – Roosevelt Day at the Museum – on October 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Maysville Museum, 165 Caribou Road.
