Fall arrives in Mapleton

There are three indications that fall has arrived in Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman.  The first indicator is the quick and rapid change in leaf color.  Today the area is at peak color.  The second indicator is the full on potato and grain harvest that is nearing completion.  The third indicator is the wide range of fall activities and dinners that are held in the three towns.

This coming Saturday, Oct. 12, the Mapleton Daze Committee will hold their annual Fall Craft & Vendor Fair, just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving and upcoming holiday shopping.  The Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mapleton Elementary School.

To enter the school and the fair, go through the main doors.

The Mapleton Daze Committee is pleased that all available crafter and vendor spaces have been filled.

Readers are invited to come and support the tri-community and its local crafters.  There will be many handcrafted items for purchase. The Mapleton Daze Committee will have lots of goodies for sale with proceeds going towards Mapleton Daze in June 2025.

Additionally the committee is asking for donations of school supplies that can be used by the school.  They ask that school supply donations be dropped off in the box next to Mapleton Daze Committee table.

Fall has come to Mapleton and colors are peaking this week. One of the most outstanding places to admire the fall brilliance is at the Hanson Lake boat launch in Mapleton. Stew Night

The Mapleton Daze Committee’s annual drive-thru stew night will occur on Oct. 26.  Two kinds of stew (chicken and beef) with a roll and dessert will be served starting at 4:30 at the Mapleton Lions Hall.  Baked beans will also be available.

The cost for each meal will be $10, with all funds raised be put forward to cover the cost of Mapleton Daze 2025.

Church harvest supper

Coming Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. is the State Road Advent Christian Church’s annual harvest supper.

Each year, supper donations benefit a family with substantial needs.  This year all the proceeds will benefit Matt Dionne and his family, who the church membership has been praying for since last November when he was struck by a vehicle while walking home. This has been a very trying year for him and his family.

This is a great opportunity for the church to come alongside and share God’s love with a local family that finds itself in a rough spot.  Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy turkey, mashed potato, vegetable, roll, stuffing and pies for dessert. All donations welcome.

Hunters breakfast

The Mapleton Daze second annual hunters breakfast will be held at the Lions Hall on Nov. 9 from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. (or until food is gone).  The menu will consist of a breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, homemade baked beans, pancakes, toast, coffee, juice and water — enough to fill you up for the big hunt that day.

Online silent auction

Later this fall, the Mapleton Daze Committee will conduct their sixth annual online silent auction.  This auction has been very popular from its very first year.  The dates of the auction will be Nov. 11-13.

Bidding will start Monday, Nov. 11, at 8 a.m.  All bidding will be done online. Bidding will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13.  Bidders submitting the highest bids at the end of the silent auction win the items bid on.

All funds raised will go towards Mapleton Daze Events in June 2025.

Right now the Mapleton Daze Committee is looking for auction items. Contacting Lynnelle Foster or send a message on the Mapleton Daze Facebook page.
