In support of Freeman

To the editor:

This year we have a great opportunity to support a local businessman and volunteer to represent us in Augusta.  Many times candidates give us a list of things they intend to do if they get elected.  Kevin Freeman has a list of issues he wants to promote, too — except he is already doing them in his current positions.

In his time on the [Presque Isle] City Council he has been a member of the Aroostook Tourism board and has actively worked to increase the size of our industry.  Last year Aroostook was the only part of Maine that had an increase and it was 17 percent.

Kevin joined the exploration committee for the Aroostook jail to decide on the needs for our community safety and budget constraints.  Kevin worked with the snowmobile industry locally to create coordinated signs to direct sledders to local businesses and services.  Under his term as Chairman he helped to support many new businesses that last year increased the taxable properties in Presque Isle by over $17 million.

So Kevin is not making promises that he has no plans for.  He wants to take his knowledge of Presque Isle and Aroostook industries to Augusta and get support we badly need to be successful.  We don’t have a seat at the table currently and we need to have a connection to the power in Augusta to make our community concerns heard.

I hope you will join me in voting for Kevin Freeman for state representative this Nov. 5.
