HOULTON, Maine – Houlton police arrested an Aroostook County man last week after finding storage unit items in the bed of the pickup truck he was driving and at his County property, police said.
Christopher D. Foster, 53 of Littleton, was charged with three Class B burglary felonies and three Class C theft by unlawful taking felonies last week, according to a police report released over the weekend.
At 8:19 p.m., Oct. 29 police were called to Handy Dandy Storage on North Road in Houlton after the caller reported a suspicious blue Ford pickup. When police arrived on scene, Officer Morgan Grant approached the vehicle, said Chief Tim DeLuca.
Several Houlton police officers determined that the items in Foster’s truck did not belong to him, according to DeLuca’s report. Additionally, the owners of the storage facility said they saw the vehicle leaving with items in the truck on several occasions over the past week, he said.
Subsequently, police investigated and found several other stolen items at Foster’s property, police said.
Foster was arrested and taken to the Aroostook County jail. If convicted, Foster faces more than 10 years behind bars.
In Maine, class B felony convictions can be sentenced for up to 10 years behind bars with a $20,000 fine; and class C felonies, up to five years with a $5,000 fine.
According to DeLuca, the burglaries are still under investigation.
