PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The County Community Players is excited to announce the receipt of a generous $5,000 grant aimed at promoting the arts and increasing community engagement in Aroostook County. The 2024 Maine Theater grant, awarded by The Maine Community Foundation, will directly benefit the organization’s efforts to enhance the live theater experience during its 36th season and beyond.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant. These funds will allow us to invest in equipment that improves the theater experience,” said Parker Smith, the board member who wrote the grant. “We keep our ticket prices low, meaning we rarely have the opportunity to purchase quality sound and lighting equipment.”
In 2024 The Players offered four productions, including a travelling performance of “A Christmas Carol”, in addition to murder mystery dinner theaters. They are gearing up for another busy season in 2025. In response to audience feedback, new microphones are being purchased.
“We regularly seek feedback from audiences and one of the most common requests that we get is to make it easier to hear the actors,” said Meg Hegemann, board president. “This support makes it possible for us to finally have our own equipment to address this significant need.”
