PORTLAND, Maine – United Insurance, one of the largest independent insurance agencies in Maine announced the acquisition of Gallagher Insurance.
In 1985, E Gerald (Jerry) Gallagher started an insurance agency at his Presque Isle home. After purchasing the Nelson Insurance Agency in 1989, the EG Gallagher Agency moved to 562 Main St. in Caribou where it has served over 1,400 commercial and personal insurance clients ever since.

“For the past 40 years, the Gallagher Insurance team has been a respected competitor of our Caribou, Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle offices,” United Insurance CEO Zack Frechette explained. “We’re delighted to add their considerable expertise to our team and welcome their clients to our family.”
Jerry Gallagher’s son-in-law Brian Sipe joined the agency in 1995, became a partner in 1997 and purchased the agency outright in 1999. “We have always offered great coverage and a really good value, but outstanding service is how we keep our clients happy,” Sipe said. “Teaming up with United Insurance enables us to provide the same service we always have with more coverage options for our clients and growth opportunities for our team.”
