PATTEN, Maine — Emma Schmidt, a senior at Katahdin High School, has been selected to receive the 2025 Principal’s Award, Principal Lori Soucy announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership and citizenship.
Throughout her years at Katahdin High School, Schmidt has distinguished herself in the classroom, as well as being president of Student Council, National Honor Society and class president. She is also the co-editor of the yearbook, has received her Servsafe Certification and she has held a job outside of school hours. She has proven herself to be a clear and effective communicator, a lifelong learner, a creative and practical problem solver, an involved citizen, a quality worker and an informed thinker.
Soucy, Schmidt and other award winners and their principals are invited to attend an honors luncheon and have a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. There will be 10 scholarships drawn.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
