Just a follow up on our awesome weekend at the Trash & Treasure Sale. The final tally that we raised was $3,059 and that is the best ever weekend event that we’ve ever had at these shows. We truly couldn’t have been happier with the turnout of people that stopped by to support our shelter.
The Lottery Board Raffle was a huge hit and the lucky winner was Kimmie Quellette of Caribou. We hope she had lots of fun scratching all those tickets! We also raffled off a beautiful toy box that was built by Bernie and Tracy Ayotte of Presque Isle. It was filled with lots of toys and Easter treats and Sylvia Winslow of Bangor was drawn as the lucky winner. Many board members and volunteers stepped up to cook for our bake sale, others made clever craft items. And to promote our spaying and neutering, Carrie Anderson made a basket of super cute earrings. We are very thankful for all the community support that is shown for our animals.
Even with all the snow and rain showers taking place the past few weeks, I have faith that spring will happen eventually! Now is the time to take stock of your pet’s health as well as your own. Let’s face it, it’s been a long winter and inactivity can take its toll on our bodies. Keeping your pet (and you) at a healthy weight is important. With warmer days coming, get out and exercise and walk your pet. Even 15 or 20 minutes can make a huge difference.
Feeding your pet a balanced and nutritious diet will help keep excess weight off, but will also bring more energy to your furry friend. Remember to also have your veterinarian check out your pet at least once a year, to detect any problems and just to maintain a healthy and happy pet. And don’t forget the important vaccinations that can protect against deadly diseases such as parvo, distemper and rabies.
Lastly, you can consult with your vet on the best products to treat fleas and ticks and heartworm, etc. And most importantly have your pets spay or neutered, there are already way too many unwanted pets… so please do your part!
