Katahdin Trust, a local community bank serving northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions, is pleased to announce new roles for three employees within its commercial department — James Nelson, Craig Staples and Alison Gould.

Nelson has been named vice president, commercial services officer and team leader. He joined Katahdin Trust in 2023 as vice president, commercial services officer. In his new role, Nelson will oversee a team of commercial bankers in Aroostook County and continue to develop new business relationships in northern and central Maine. He is based in Presque Isle and specializes in agriculture, forestry, and complex banking solutions.

Staples will serve as vice president, commercial and municipal services officer. Staples recently celebrated his 20-year milestone with Katahdin Trust. He began his career as assistant vice president, commercial services officer, and was promoted to vice president in 2008. Staples will continue to travel throughout Aroostook County and surrounding areas to help businesses and municipalities with their banking needs.

Alison Gould has assumed the role of commercial portfolio manager. Gould started her career with Katahdin Trust in 1993 as a commercial services assistant in Houlton, a position she held until 1997 when she left to raise her young children. She has held various roles since she returned in 2007, including teller and commercial services specialist. Most recently, she served as assistant vice president, commercial services officer. In her new role as portfolio manager, Gould will assist the Bank’s commercial lending team with analysis, underwriting, completion of renewals and account reviews.

“I am proud of these commercial team members,” said Angela Tennett, executive vice president, chief banking officer. “Their leadership and dedication to Katahdin Trust, our customers, and communities make them truly deserving of their new roles. I am confident that they will continue to play a vital role in our Bank’s success as they take on these new responsibilities.”
