PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center will feature local artist Lynn M. Cote during the month of June. The opening reception of Cote’s show will be held Friday evening, June 6 from 6-7:45 p.m. during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk. Live music will be provided by Janice Santos.

Cote was born, raised and currently lives in Presque Isle. She graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a concentration in painting. Cote works from Birch Haven Studio, her beloved studio nestled among a stand of birch trees on her Presque Isle property.

Inspired by nature and her flower gardens, Cote creates whimsical drawings and paintings derived from daily  interactions with her environment.

“Currently, I have been concentrating on drawing skills,” she said. “I have found a love for the nuances of textures, details and contrast that can be achieved with graphite.”

In the summer Cote will be working on a body of acrylic paintings inspired by the blossoms in her gardens.

“Over the last couple of years, we have had the pleasure of including Lynn’s work in some of our collaborative art  shows,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s events director. “In June, we are thrilled to feature her as a solo artist. We are excited for people to come out and see Lynn’s show in person to fully experience her creativity.”

Cote’s opening reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
