PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Aroostook Area Agency on Aging is participating in the First Friday Art Night on June 6 with an exhibition by Monticello painter Alex Rino.

Rino is a self-taught New England artist and author. Her love of art began with illustrated children’s  books she brought home from the library, most notably “The Bee Man of Orn” by P.J. Lynch and “The  Spiderwick Chronicles” by Tony Diterlizzi. She was inspired to pursue art at age 14 after meeting her artistic hero at a book signing.

Rino’s style is heavily influenced by her love of color and the small joys of the everyday.

The First Friday event is free and open to the public and Rino’s art will be on display throughout June. For more information, please call the Agency on Aging at 207-764-3396 or 1-800-439-1789.
