The Professional Logging Contractors of the Northeast recently awarded a local company with its 2025 Community Service Award.

JRS Logging Inc. of Fort Kent and owner Jared Sirois received the honor during the PLC’s 30th annual meeting last month in Rockport.

“This award was given because of his willingness to help, with no wish to be repaid or recognized, his strong faith and love for his community and its children and future,” Sirois’ wife, Sherry Sirois, said in a social media post.

Jared Sirois often donates cash or firewood to those in the community, and gives equipment to youth interested in the logging trade, Sherry Sirois said.

This summer will mark his 30th year in business, she said.

The Community Service Award goes each year to a member or organization that has shown a significant commitment to their community, according to the PLC. The annual meeting is the group’s largest gathering, and features the “Log A Load for Kids” auction, which raises funds for Maine and Vermont Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Formerly the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine, the organization expanded in 2023 and now serves the industry across the Northeast.
