Presque Isle has a new city manager.
The Presque Isle City Council named Sonja Eyler, who has served as interim city manager since April, as the new city manager during a council meeting Tuesday.
“We went through a fairly extensive interview process with multiple candidates and we all felt that she performed the best and was the right person for the job,” council chair Jeff Willette said during the meeting.
Eyler was appointed to the interim role after former city manager Tyler Brown resigned on March 19. She will be paid $120,000 annually, the same salary as Brown.
“As your City Manager, I will continue to lead with transparency, fairness, and a deep respect for the voices of our citizens,” Eyler wrote in a Wednesday release. “I believe in local government that listens, that evolves, and that serves. We will focus on strengthening our neighborhoods, investing in our future, and ensuring that every citizen feels seen, heard, and valued.
The city hired Eyler as assistant city manager in November after she served as director of Presque Isle’s Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library for more than 26 years.
