Caribou man arrested after allegedly firing gun at home

FORT KENT, Maine — Fort Kent and Caribou police on Monday arrested a Caribou man who allegedly fired a gun at a Fort Kent home.

Eric Pitre, 20, of Caribou was arrested at his residence and charged with Class C reckless conduct with a firearm and Class C aggravated criminal mischief. He was later taken to Aroostook County Jail in Houlton with a bail set at $10,000 cash.

The incident occurred early in the morning on Sunday, Aug. 24. Witnesses reported to Fort Kent police that a Ford F150 pickup with Maine Veteran plates and several occupants was seen leaving a party as two firearms were shot out of each side of the vehicle at a home on the Caribou Road. 

One vehicle in the driveway of the residence was struck by one of the bullets, and officers later found 9mm casings in the area. 

According to police, a 16-year-old boy was also allegedly involved in the incident. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, but he has not yet been apprehended.

Fort Kent police thanked the Caribou Police Department for its assistance, and stated that the investigation is still ongoing and that further charges are pending.
