Presque Isle road rage incident could bring criminal charges

A Presque Isle road-rage argument — in which someone apparently mentioned a gun — could result in criminal charges, city officials said.

Two men engaged in a road-rage confrontation on Saturday that continued onto Walmart’s property, city Public Information Officer Kim Smith said. She did not identify the men.

Police were called at about 1:15 p.m. and declared the incident resolved and the area safe at 1:45, she said. A gun was involved, but apparently was not brandished.

“However, [the firearm] was never displayed, and at no point were any members of the public directly threatened,” Smith said.

The store was not evacuated.

Criminal charges are pending, Smith said.

She did not specify if anyone was hurt or if any vehicles were damaged.

No other details are available because police are still investigating, she said.
