Saturday, Nov. 8  the Aroostook Huskies came out victorious in our attempt to repeat as Maine Independent Football League champs. The Huskies beat the Central Maine Eagles from China in a very competitive game with a final score of 36-32.

The Huskies were led by Caribou High School senior captain quarterback/back Dakota Trombley who threw two 50-yard touchdowns as well as contributing over 50 yards rushing and getting an interception on defense.

Leading the team in receiving was senior Mikael McDougal who caught both long touchdowns as well as three other passes.

Presque Isle High School junior Karter Poisson did the hard-nosed running up the middle all game picking up crucial first downs and the first touchdown for the Huskies, on defense he made many hard hits helping set the tone.

Lastly, Presque Isle High School junior Damien Kennedy led the team in rushing with over 100 yards and two touchdowns including the go-ahead score with just nine seconds left in the game.

The Huskies want to thank Tyler Turner for taking the photos for the team during the year and during the championship game.

The Huskies want to recognize Stu Wyckoff, the founder of the Huskies who earlier this year announced that he would be retiring from the program after the championship game so we were thrilled to help him go out on top.
