Aroostook House of Comfort dedicates lobby area

The Aroostook Hospice Foundation announces the dedication of the lobby seating area at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle.

The area was recently dedicated in loving memory of Sue Guiou and Jeff Guiou. This meaningful tribute was made possible through the generosity of Ken Rideout and Leslie Guiou Rideout, daughter of Sue and sister of Jeff, in gratitude for the compassionate care their family received.

“We are forever grateful for the compassionate care provided for my mother and brother, and the care and comfort shown to our family,” Leslie Guiou Rideout said. “This naming provides a remembrance of our loved ones and a means to give back to the Aroostook House of Comfort and the dedicated healthcare providers and staff who surrounded us with love and kindness.”

The lobby seating area serves as a welcoming space for families and visitors. It is a place for gathering, reflection and quiet moments during life’s most tender times, House of Comfort officials said.

Through this tribute, Sue and Jeff’s memory will continue to offer comfort and connection to others navigating their own hospice journey.

“When families choose to honor their loved ones through a naming dedication, they create a legacy that extends far beyond a single space,” said Abbey Clair, executive director of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation.

“Leslie and Ken’s gift is a beautiful expression of gratitude and love. It helps ensure that the Aroostook House of Comfort remains a place of dignity, warmth, and compassionate care for years to come.”

As one of only four inpatient hospice homes in Maine, the Aroostook House of Comfort relies primarily on community generosity to sustain its mission and ensure care remains accessible regardless of financial circumstance. Naming opportunities allow individuals, families and businesses to honor loved ones while supporting the long-term sustainability of compassionate inpatient hospice care in rural Aroostook County.
