PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Hospice Foundation is honored to announce the dedication of Suite 6 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in loving memory of Michael D. MacPherson. The dedication has been made possible through a generous $50,000 gift from his spouse Carol MacPherson, who continues her dedicated service as vice chair of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation Board of Directors.

Michael MacPherson was a visionary leader, devoted volunteer, loyal friend and steadfast advocate whose leadership was instrumental in bringing the Aroostook House of Comfort from concept to completion. During the earliest stages of planning and construction, he worked alongside fellow board members with determination and clarity of purpose, helping transform the dream of an inpatient hospice home into a reality for families across Aroostook County. His unwavering belief in compassionate, dignified hospice care helped shape the home that so many families now depend upon during life’s most tender moments.

In a poignant full-circle moment, MacPherson later received care at the Aroostook House of Comfort as a patient, experiencing firsthand the comfort, respect and compassion he had worked so diligently to make possible for others.

Carol MacPherson shared, “The Aroostook House of Comfort proved to be very dear to Michael. Early in the journey to construct the facility, he became heavily involved as he worked with other board members to make the ‘dream’ become ‘reality.’ His determination and dedication to enable the completion of the building and the success of the foundation was evident in many ways. Later the compassionate care that he received as a patient surpassed any expression of appreciation that can be stated. In dedicating Suite #6 to his memory, it is my hope that his endeavors and commitment to hospice care will be remembered and beneficial to many in the years to come.”

The Aroostook Hospice Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Carol MacPherson for this extraordinary and meaningful gift. Suite 6 will stand as a lasting tribute to Michael MacPherson’s leadership, compassion and enduring commitment to hospice care in Aroostook County.
