PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present an exhibition from Maine-based artist Norajean Ferris, titled “Global Scream: Voices within Oppression”, from Friday, June 5 through Friday, Aug. 7. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 5 and a closing reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Both events are free and open to the public.
Ferris is recognized for her intuitive engagement with material, memory and landscape, but equally central to her practice is a sustained engagement with political and social realities that shape contemporary life. This exhibition offers a window into Ferris’s evolving creative language — one that is at once contemplative, materially rich and attuned to the complexities of the world.
Regular gallery hours during the summer are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more contact Gallery Director Frank Sullivan at 207-694-1920, or frank.sullivan@maine.edu.
