To the editor:
In Aroostook County, we know what it means to be overlooked by decision-makers far away. We know the importance of self-reliance, hard work, and leaders who understand rural Maine instead of talking down to it.
As a retired potato farmer, I have seen firsthand how state policies affect local communities, from roads and public safety to taxes and economic opportunity. Too often, northern Maine is treated like an afterthought. We need a governor who understands that every county matters.
That is why I have chosen to support my friend Garrett Mason for governor.
Garrett knows Maine is more than the coastal population centers in the south. He respects our heritage and understands the needs of working families, small businesses, farmers, loggers, and the communities that keep this state running. He also knows how Augusta works and how to make it work better for the people.
Many candidates promise big change. Garrett is the only one with the experience to actually deliver it. He knows what he can do, and what he can’t. He is prepared to lead on day one, and is grounded in conservative principles like accountability, responsibility, integrity and respect for individual freedom.
Maine needs leadership that sees all of Maine, knows all of Maine and serves all of Maine. I’ve known Garrett long enough to know that he is ready to do exactly that.
I trust Garrett Mason to do what is right, and to get the job done.
