A 15-year-old boy died Sunday evening after the ATV he was riding in rolled over in a field in Fort Fairfield.
The driver of the side-by-side ATV — also a 15-year-old boy — turned hard left while accelerating, causing the vehicle to lift and skid before overturning, the Maine Warden Service said in a release Monday.
The passenger died from his injuries at the scene. The driver was transported to Cary Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither was wearing a helmet or seatbelt at the time of the crash, the warden service said. The crash is being investigated.
The identities of the teenagers have not been released.
