MARS HILL, Maine — The Mars Hill Rotary Club recently hosted the 24th annual Alton McQuade Mars Hill Open Aug. 8-9 at the Mars Hill Country Club. Jamie Leavitt of Millinocket was the tournament winner.
About 60 players turned out for the event. Many were from the local area and other Maine golf clubs, but some attended from as far away as West Virginia and California. Some new players enjoyed their first Alton McQuade tournament this year.
Winners of each division are as follows:
Men’s Division 1
1st gross, Brandon Dimick; 2nd gross, Michael Bruce; 3rd gross Kyle Grooms.
1st net, Wyatt Foster; 2nd net, Michael Vanadestine; 3rd net, Adam Metzler.
Men’s Division 2
1st gross, Josh Cyr; 2nd gross, Marty Kelly; 3rd gross, David Theriault.
1st net, Dennis Anderson; 2nd net, Cody McCrum; 3rd net, Malachi Fitxherbert.
Senior Division
1st gross, Phil Pelletier; 2nd gross, Ken Dimick; 3rd gross, Gordon Smith; 4th gross, Frank Marino.
1st net, Phil Pelkey; 2nd net, Tim York; 3rd net, Harry Orser; 4th net, Tim Zollin.
Organizers are already planning next year’s Mars Hill Open which will be held Aug. 6-8.
