CARIBOU, Maine – The Aroostook Hospice Foundation held its 4th Annual Walk for Hospice on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Caribou High School Track & Trails, bringing together over 442 participants and 31 teams and raising more than $75,000 in support of the Aroostook House of Comfort.
The annual walk brings the community together to raise funds and awareness while remembering and celebrating the lives of those touched by hospice care. This year marked the largest Walk for Hospice to date. The 2026 event proudly featured Greenlaw Electric, LLC as Event Sponsor and the Family of Dr. David Jones as Memorial Dedication Sponsor, with the support of 80 sponsors, 14 in-kind donors and 40 volunteers.
“Each year, I am reminded that the Walk for Hospice is about so much more than fundraising,” Abbey Clair, executive director of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation, said. “When you look around and see hundreds of people gathered together, many walking in memory of someone they love or because hospice has touched their family in some way, you see what makes this event so special. Our community shows up for one another, and this outpouring of support helps ensure the Aroostook House of Comfort is here for families when they need us most.”
Pineland Farms once again added to the impact of walk day by generously matching funds raised that morning up to $5,000. Through registrations, raffle sales and donations, participants and supporters helped reach the full match. S.W. Collins Company also returned as sponsor of the annual walk raffle.
Participants were recognized throughout the morning, including the top individual and team fundraisers with the Heart of Hospice Award and Community Impact Award. New this year, a Best Dressed award celebrated team spirit and creativity.
Funds raised through the walk sustain the facility, provide comfort and assistance to patients and families, and ensure Charity Care remains available for those in need, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Aroostook Hospice Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who walked, fundraised, donated, volunteered, sponsored or supported this year’s event.
